Gerry O’Reilly
Systems Analyst / Software Developer / Managing Director, Gerry is a graduate from Ulster Poly (UUJ). He joined the multi-national corporate world in 1979 to understand how the system worked, then went back to ‘the books’ in 1988 to see if anything had changed, he was reinvigorated with the science of computing but the mitigating role of money in the equation.
He left the corporate world in 1996 to build a software company from the bottom up with 3 very clever partners and sold his share after 5 years and became ‘a free spirit’. In 2003, he created another software company, in which he indulges and thoroughly enjoy.
His freedom from ‘wage slavery’ has provided him with a very rich backdrop to approach new events.
Gerry wishes this freedom on everyone, and says there are many lessons to be learned:
1) There is no free money
2) Don’t do it for the money
3) Follow your dream
4) Where’s the fun in my work
