I am a past participant on the Work4UPlus programme and feel I really benefitted from the support and encouragement I received from the support team.

I left St. Marys and went to the SRC to complete a course in Hair & Beauty, I had to complete my English and Maths GCSE’s while completing the Hair & Beauty Course.   I then moved on to complete a barbering course as well, which gave me a lot more scope in terms of employment. 

When I started my family, I decided to open my own business, GL hair and beauty (working part-time from home) so that I could spend quality time with my children. 

I was delighted to return to Work4UPlus and tell the young people that I was once in their shoes!  They will usually ask me about my time at school and on the programme and I can honestly tell them I was not really into academic studies, but the team helped me to realise that I needed some basic qualifications to enable me to complete my studies in the SRC and secure my career in Hair & Beauty.
